Carlemite Nuns
On July 17, 1794, sixteen nuns were executed at Place de la Nation in Paris. The nuns, known as the Martyrs of Compiègne, were killed during the Reign of Terror, part of the French Revolution.
When I was growing up, my father always told me how important and meaningful the French Revolution was. The pieces in this exhibition represent my disillusionment with the stories I was told as a child and what I learned to be true as an adult.
